Age Limit for BTSC Lab Technician Recruitment 2025

The maximum and minimum age limit for this vacancy are as follows:

  • Minimum Age: 18 years.

NOTE: Age relaxation is only applicable for candidates with permanent residence in Bihar. Candidates with domicile outside Bihar will be considered under the General category.

Application Fee Details

The prescribed application fee for applying online is as follows:

  • Differently-abled candidates of all categories will have to deposit one-fourth of the examination fee prescribed for the unreserved category. That is, if the prescribed fee for an unreserved category candidate is ₹600, then a differently-abled candidate will have to pay only ₹150 as an examination fee.
  • The application fee by the candidates will be deposited only through Online Mode via Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI, and a copy of the receipt will be kept safe by the applicant. (Note:- Payment of the fee shall be accepted through online mode only.)
  • In online payment, the candidate will also have to pay the charges prescribed by various banks in addition to the above examination fee, which will be automatically taken by the bank as bank charges during the online payment process.
  • All candidates of all categories who deposit the application fee according to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe and disability, and if they do not submit the relevant certificate in the future, their candidature will be canceled based on the Concessional Application Fee. Differently-abled candidates and candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe categories are informed in this regard that if they voluntarily deposit the application fee as per general candidates, their candidature will remain secure on this point.

Selection Process

The Commission will select candidates based on a written competitive examination and work experience. The merit list of candidates for selection is based on the written competitive examination and work experience for the BTSC Lab Technician Recruitment 2025 is as follows:

For work experience on a similar post on a contractual basis in government hospitals/institutions and non-private (under the control of the Central Government, Panchayati Raj, Urban Bodies) hospitals located within the state of Bihar, 05 marks per year, a maximum of 25 marks. (For a fraction of a year, the proportional marks will be added after multiplying the number of working days by 05 and then dividing by 365)25

Scheme of Examination

The Commission will conduct the written competitive examination for all candidates through a Computer Based Test. Following is the scheme of examination for BTSC Lab Technician Recruitment 2025.

  • The question paper of the competitive examination will have a total of 100 questions, all questions will be of multiple-choice objective type. The question paper will be in both Hindi and English languages.
  • The duration of the examination will be two hours, and the total marks will be 100.
  • Questions will be asked based on the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician level syllabus prescribed by the requisitioning department. The said syllabus will be published separately on the Commission’s Website.
  • The said examination will be conducted through a Computer Based Test in more than one shift, and due to the examination being conducted in more than one shift, the 1 result will be prepared by adopting the process of normalization.
  • Negative marking will be applicable for incorrect answers in the examination. For each correct answer, 01 mark will be awarded, and for each incorrect answer, (0.25) mark will be deducted.
  • Based on the said examination, the results of all candidates will be declared by adopting the process of normalization.

Note:- If candidates do not obtain the minimum qualifying marks as per their category in the competitive examination, no claim of the candidate will be valid.

The benefit of work experience will be given only to candidates who have passed the written competitive examination. The work experience certificate should be issued by the Civil Surgeon of the concerned district; in the case of a medical college, by the Principal; in the case of a medical college and hospital, by the Superintendent; in the case of a super-specialty hospital, by the Director; and in the case of institutions mentioned in clause 5(i)(b) of the advertisement, by the head of the said institutions. This should be recorded in the prescribed column of the application. If work experience is not claimed in the application, the benefit of marks for work experience and relaxation in age limit will not be given. The period of work experience will be calculated up to the date 04.03.2025.

A format for the work experience certificate is enclosed in Appendix 1 of the official notification. The benefit of marks for work experience and relaxation in age limit will be given only if the work experience certificate is issued in this format. If the work experience certificate is issued in any other format different from this format, the benefit of marks will not be given.

As per the rules, candidates who are declared successful (Qualified) in the written competitive examination will be invited for document verification by preparing a category-wise merit list as per the provisions mentioned in clause 5 (i) of the advertisement.
